More Details About Overwatch 2 Season 2 Ahead of Launch on December 6

Nov 29, 2022

New hero map, skins, twitch drops, returning events, and more from Season 2

Blizzard Entertainment released the Overwatch 2 Season 2 trailer earlier today which revealed the theme for the upcoming battle pass in addition to providing a glimpse at the brand-new Mythic skin headed to the battle pass (presumably the reward for reaching tier 80, similar to the current season.) This battle pass appears to be Greek Mythology themed with the Mythic skin being Zeus Junker Queen.

Similar to Season 1, Season 2 will feature 80 battle pass tiers where players can unlock various awards for free as well as by purchasing the premium pass where players can access 60 tiers of awards including, but not limited to:

  • Ramattra instant unlock

  • Junker Queen Mythic skin

  • Legendary and Epic skins

  • 20% XP boost for the duration of the season

In addition to the new battle pass, there is a new map and limited time game mode for players to dive into. Notably, the new limited time mode, Battle for Olympus, will arrive to Overwatch 2 on January 5, 2023 and is in-line with the Greek Mythology theme for the season.

With the new season there will also be new character bundles that will feature new Greek Mythology themed skins for characters who presumably will not have a unique skin in the battle pass. Today with the trailer for Season 2, a bundle for Cyclops Roadhog and Medusa Widowmaker will be available in the in-game shop during Season 2.

Season 2 will hold returning events Winter Wonderland, which runs December 13 - January 4, and Lunar New Year, returning January 4 - February 6, which will hold free skins for players to earn through completing event challenges.

Also in the trailer we got a sneak peek of new holiday cosmetics for Bastion, who was wearing a gingerbread house-inspired skin, and Mei who was wearing a rabbit-themed skin for Lunar New Year 2023.

Similarily to Season 1, Twitch drops were regularily available for players to obtain unique in-game rewards and Season 2 will hold more opportunities to earn rewards for supporting your favorite creators. So far only Ramattra is teased to be getting Twitch drops during Season 2, but more information will likely be released closer to the drop dates.
