The wholesome, and wildly popular, Season 1 of Spy x Family is coming to an end this December, but fans won't have to wait long for Season 2. Revealed at Jump Fiesta's Spy x Family panel, the voice actors or the Forger family shared that Season 2 is expected for 2023 in addition to a movie that will hit theaters that same year. The second season will likely adapt the "Imperial Scholars Mixer" arc and the "Great Cruise Adventure" arc, the former of which will mark the first time Loid comes face to face with the target of Operation Strix: Donovan Desmond. The "Great Cruise Adventure" arc will see Forgers go on their first vacation together as a family. Unfortunately, the trip doesn't go as planned when Yor, alias Thorn Princess, must undertake a rather unusual mission that doesn't fit with her profile as an assassin.

The panel also revealed that a new Spy x Family movie will release in the same year. The film is an entirely new work, featuring an original story. Tatsuya Endo, the creator of the manga series, will supervise the film and create the original character designs for its new characters. To commemorate the special announcement, Endo drew a new illustration showing Loid piloting a small aircraft with Yor and Bond sitting together at the back. Anya is sitting right in the middle of her parents, popcorn from her bucket flying everywhere, as she points at something for her father. Anya's voice balloon in the image loosely translates to, "Going on an ooting to the movie theater!!"

What is Spy Family?

Created by Tatsuya Endo, Spy x Family revolves around the Forger family. From the outside, they look like a normal family: Loid Forger is a psychiatrist/researcher at a hospital, Yor Briar is a city worker and Anya is a newly-enrolled student at the prestigious Eden Academy. What nobody knows is that each one of them hides a secret. Loid is a spy tasked with the all-important mission Operation Strix to maintain peace between Ostania and Westalis and, so far, has lived his life donning a different persona every day. Yor is a professional assassin who works for an infamous underground group, Garden. The only reason Anya knows everyone’s secret is because she has a secret of her own: she’s a telepath.
