New Trailer for HBO's The Last of Us

With nearly a month before The Last of Us debuts on HBO, a new trailer was revealed at CCXP 2022 (Comic Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil) that sets the tone for the series and gives fans their first look at Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker's role in the show. It is expected that some elements from the game will be changed for the show, and one of the major changes is not casting the voice actors in the role of their characters. Although, the creators of The Last of Us could not have created a better homage to Ashley Johnson's legacy as Ellie than what they are doing in the show. There is a moment in the trailer where we see Johnson holding a baby, presumably Ellie, which can mean one thing: they are hinting that Ashley Johnson plays Ellie's mom, Anna. As a fan of The Last of Us universe, I could not be more thrilled with this decision if that is the case. As for Troy Baker, it is confirmed that he will be playing an as-of-yet unnamed character who is part of David's crew--yes, that David--from what we can piece together from the trailer.

Baker and Johnson have been a part of the games since 2013 when The Last of Us first released on PS3, and it is great to see they are still part of the universe even though it shifted mediums from gaming to television. The Last of Us premieres on HBO January 15.
